What Is ChatGPT? (And Why It’s Not Chat GBT)

Have you ever heard someone say “Chat GBT” instead of “ChatGPT”?

Don’t worry. You’re not alone.

I’ve heard business owners, executives, speakers, and all kinds of intelligent people say it. The truth is that technology introduces new terms all the time, and sometimes they take a little getting used to.

The important thing is that you’re learning.

So, what does ChatGPT actually mean?

The name breaks down into three parts:

  • Generative – It creates new content.
  • Pre-trained – It learned from enormous amounts of information before you ever started using it.
  • Transformer – This is the technology that helps it understand patterns and relationships in language.

That’s a lot of technical information, so let’s simplify it.

Think of it like a car.

Most of us don’t know how an engine works.

We don’t understand every wire, belt, or moving part under the hood.

But we know how to drive the car.

Artificial intelligence is very similar.

You don’t need to understand every technical detail to use the tool effectively.

Why does this matter?

Many people avoid technology because they think they have to understand every detail before they begin.

The truth is that confidence doesn’t come from knowing everything.

Confidence comes from taking the first step.

Technology doesn’t have to be intimidating.

You don’t have to know all the jargon.

You don’t have to be an expert.

You simply have to be willing to learn.

The most important thing to remember

Today’s confusing technology often becomes tomorrow’s everyday tool.

That’s exactly why I created Tech Confidence with Karrie.

Because everyone deserves to feel comfortable and confident using the tools available to them.

And who knows?

Maybe the next time you hear someone say “Chat GBT,” you’ll be the one smiling. 😏💙
